而 James Harden 幾乎憑藉著一己之力讓本季的 LA Clippers 不至於絕望。
出賽七十九場近八賽季最多，場均 22.8 分 8.7 助攻均為全隊最高，另外還有 5.8 籃板 1.5 抄截 0.7 阻攻。
USG％ 29.6、VORP (Value Over Replacement Player) 4.4、DRtg (Defensive Rating) 110 為離開 Houston Rockets 後的新高，DWS (Defensive Win Shares) 4.3 則創下生涯新高。
闊別兩年再度重返 All-Star、例行賽最後一周四戰全勝拿下四年多來首次 Player of the Week(上次得獎為 Feb.22.2021)、三月初面對 Detroit Pistons 以近六成命中率拿下離開 Houston Rockets 後的首次單場 50 分(上次單場得分 50+ 為 Dec.13.2019)。
James Harden 本賽季 $33,653,846 的薪資排不進聯盟前四十，可是卻扛起球隊拿下五十勝三十二負的優異戰績，在西區只有 Oklahoma City Thunder (68-14) 和 Houston Rockets (52-30) 勝率更高。
LA Clippers 最後以西區第五的戰績、毋須附加賽便躋身季後賽。季後賽，James Harden 以比例行賽更優異的 43.6％ 投籃命中率與 36.4％ 三分球命中率，場均拿下 18.7 分、9.1 助攻、5.4 籃板、1.3 抄截、1.0 阻攻之全能數據，上場時間更是全隊最多的 39.4 分鐘。
可惜的是，James Harden 與 LA Clippers 終究不是勝利的一方。
能打到 Game 7 或許以說明雙方的勢均力敵、檢討戰術與球員已無太多意義，可是系列賽有三場比賽最終比分差距在三分以下，這三場的 NBA Officiating Last Two Minute Report 則相當值得回顧。
Game 1 第四節最後兩分鐘沒有誤判、兩隊以 98-98 平手進入延長賽，而在延長賽剩下 57.1 秒時，Aaron Gordon 對 Kawhi Leonard 相當明顯的犯規沒有被吹罰，Denver Nuggets 得利。
最終 Nuggets 也以 112-110 取得本場勝利。

Game 2 第四節剩下 1 分 42.9 秒時，Nikola Jokic 明顯違反 Defense 3 Second 規則，裁判沒有吹罰，Denver Nuggets 得利。
所幸沒有影響到比賽結果，Clippers 以 105-102 取得本場勝利。
